~ Chalk Paint Coffee Table ~

I love this coffee table with the marble insert and Frenchy cabriole legs.

This piece had some water damage on the side.

The chalk paint covered this easily with no preparation.

that is right...no sanding or priming!

I painted the first coat with Old Ochre Chalk Paint

and dry brushed Old White for the second coat.

Put on clear wax first before distressing.
I used steel wool, sandpaper and a scraping tool to distress.

The clear wax is best to use before distressing to keep down the dust
and the wax helps you to know where to distress.

I brushed on dark wax ,using a circular motion,to some
of the indented spots and scraped areas.

I love the way the dark wax gives a lustrous vintage look to furniture.

End with clear wax and buff when dry.

An easy one hour project including drying time!

As for the chalk paint? You do fantastic work with it all. I last checked in before Hubby went into the hospital and you were busy as a bee painting everything in your backyard!

I've been to your site before and just love it. I love how you did this piece of furniture and I've seen the school cabinet below a few days ago and thought it looked like something directly from Paris, France. In fact even after I have closed down my computer I still keep seeing it in my mind (*lol*) that's the wonderful expression it left in my mind.

Thank you for the chance to win some of this magical chalk paint!

Hope you have a wonderful day.

  48. I have a coffee table that looks just like yours! It belonged to my great-aunt Lena. My grandmother gave it to me when I married 32 years ago. 20 years ago we moved to our current home and I gave the coffee table to my next-door neighbor. She used it for a while, but then put it in her attic. I got it back a few weeks ago. Would love to paint it with Old White and Old Ochre just like yours. I am a new follower to your blog and would love to win the chalk paint through Miss Mustard Seed's give-away.
