Found this wooden infant bathtub at a neighbor's estate sale. This belonged to her grandmother and had been in storage for years. I filled it today with glass oil bottles, blue canning jars, silver pieces, Staffordshire and threw in a few pine cones.
Thanks for stopping by!

What a unique idea. I've never seen a wooden infants bath before, but I've got a thing for wooden bowls. I'm sure you'll be able to use this for lots of things. Sonia :)

Popped over from FJI. It looks great, but are you sure it's not a dough bowl?
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other posts that this is probably a dough bowl. I have one that was handed down in my family. My great-grandfather carved it for his bride in the 1860's. My mom told me she can remember watching her grandmother make bread dough in it then leaving it to rise. It's a huge bowl so she must have made a lot of bread!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a treasure. I decorate mine for the seasons.
Love how you displayed it,though dear it is a dough trough or also known as a trencher. They still hand carve these in Mexico and are rare finds from Europe. We have one at church we use to serve breads / dinner rolls in at Sunday dinners.
