I inherited this armoire from Mr. Sweetie when we married two years ago.
It is a really nice quality piece but too dark for my style so.......
.....after a little coaxing He agreed to let me paint it!
It took two men to move this piece into the bedroom so
I knew it wasn't going anywhere to paint.
I knew it wasn't going anywhere to paint.
I put blue tape around the legs and laid
wax paper around the floor under the piece.
And out came the Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan of course.
I mixed equal parts of Louis Blue and Paris Grey to get the prettiest blue grey.
I mixed 3/4 cup of Louis Blue and 3/4 cup of Paris Grey
The first coat I painted on full strength and the second coat diluted with 10% water.
Diluting the paint makes your paint go on smoother and conserves paint.
I painted two coats with 1 1/2 cups of paint...not bad.
The rope areas I highlighted with Old White.
Finished with Annie's Soft Clear Wax...slightly distressed some areas and
buffed with a soft cloth the next day.
I love this mixed color...and the piece is much easier on the eyes now!
That's lovely, Kayla!

LOVE this Karla - it looks wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful. Paris Grey is my favorite. I like the idea of mixing it. And thanks for the tip to mix with water for final coat.
