~ School House Cabinet ~

This is a school cabinet that I found at a garage sale for $50.00.

It sits in my Chalk Paint stockist room...so I wanted to use many painting techniques.

The cabinet is painted in Paris Grey and Old White.

I used a grain sack stencil...very important to use a long level to center stencil when both doors are not level.

You can purchase great stencils at Maison de Stencils.

Use a torpedo level to level the top of the stencil.

I used Graphite for the stencil

I mixed Old White with the Clear Wax...waxed over the Paris Grey.

Scraped, sanded and used steel wool to distress all over the cabinet.

Waxed the cabinet doors with Dark Wax and wiped away the excess wax.
.
Next ...waxed over the stencil with the Old White wax mixture and distressed some more.

Today I will buff the cabinet to give a lustrous look.

What do you  think?  Do you like it?

  6. Martha,

I used Graphite to stencil and did mix a small amount of Old White to the clear wax working this over some of the blue and stencil area.

You are definitely on my list on my next visit! Love the coffee table, the cabriole legs chair... all of it! I have so many projects that I keep saying I will paint when I finally get some chalk paint. Soon, very soon I hope!
