~ Quilt Slipcover Chair ~

I wanted to change the look of this wing chair
by making a slipcover with a vintage quilt.

Before Chair

This is the vintage quilt I had draped over the chair for a long time.
I bought this quilt top several years ago...added the backing and machine quilted.

Checking for enough fabric

I painted the legs with Chalk Paint™...Old White.

Before

After

Here is the finished slipcover.
The chair didn't have a cushion so I made one out of cotton linen...down filled.

Finished Chair

I used the binding edge of the quilt for the edge of the slipcover...so easy.

Finished back

What do you think?

Now the couch is the next slipcover project.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to slipcover a couch?

  2. So nice-I love it!
I have an old quilt and thought about using it to cover a chair...but I have a cat with claws...so I don't think I will just yet.

  11. This is AMAZING! Love it! Hope you don't mind if I copy LOL! What size quilt did you use? Did you need special needles on the sewing machine for the thickness of the quilt? Any chance of a tutorial or step-by-by instructions? Thanks for sharing, Maureen mb99999@yahoo.com
